What are the best dairy-free easter eggs?

Are you on the hunt for a vegan-friendly Easter egg? Then, you’ve come to the right place!

A delicious array of vegan Easter eggs is on the market right now. Perfect for dairy-free all year round, those who tried Veganuary and have stuck to it and simply those who like to dabble in a plant-based diet! Whether you are buying for yourself or the plant-based chocoholic in your life, we have you covered!

We rounded up our supermarket finds and asked our trusty taste testers at Kirsty’s to crack into them and give their verdict on each – tough job, but someone’s got to do it!

The taste testers weren’t told which Easter eggs they were testing. Instead, they scored each egg out of 5 based on the appearance, the thickness of the chocolate, the aroma, the texture and most importantly, the taste!

So… the results are in, and below are our winners:

Joint Winner: NOMO Creamy Choc Easter Eggs & Bar 148g

Our verdict: The best vegan ‘milk’ chocolate eggs

No Mo Easter Egg

We are big fans of NOMO at Kirsty’s, so we were expecting great things and weren’t disappointed! Trust us when we say this is just as delicious as its non-vegan counterpart!

For appearance, the egg was a good size and thickness. It also came with an extra bar of chocolate (bonus points). NOMO was the closest in taste and texture to milk chocolate for us. It was lovely and smooth with a great level of creaminess. It had a good depth of chocolate flavour and wasn’t overly sweet.

The only disadvantage we could think of was that you wouldn’t be able to stop eating it, but hey, it’s Easter, after all!

If you prefer different flavours and inclusions, they also have Fruit & Crunch, Caramel and Cookie Dough.

Joint Winner: Aldi Moser Roth Salted Caramel Eggs 200g

Our Verdict: Salted Caramel Lovers Rejoice!

Aldi Easter Egg

Now this is a cracking (pardon the pun) dark chocolate salted caramel egg! Described on the box as a ‘salted caramel flavour egg with crunchy flakes and Anglesey Sea Salt’, it was bound to go down well.

Overall, it looks very grown up and premium. The shell is lovely and thick, with a simple but effective rippled pattern.

When you open the box, you are greeted with a luxurious aroma of chocolate and caramel. The experience continues to get better once you bite into it. It gives out small bursts of salted caramel flavours, and we loved the addition of the crispy rice pieces, which gave a wonderful texture.

The chocolate had a great depth of flavour and was lovely and creamy. It wasn’t overly rich or sweet and kept us all returning for more!

The egg also came with a box of hidden luxury caramel-filled truffles, which were divine!

After tasting, we noticed the packaging was plastic-free, which we loved!
